The war in Cyprus – where Xen was born, was the catalyst for the family to emigrate to Australia. Moving to a new country, assimilating into a different society, surrounded by the unfamiliar and coping with the language barrier, was a frightening experience for this little boy of seven. But Xen immersed himself in these changes – of which, learning to speak English was by far the most challenging. He overcame these challenges in communication through sport.
Xen’s passion for competition and achievement in sport soon earned him an impressive track record in Australian National Basketball and Bodybuilding.
Furthered by his passion for sports, Xen completed a Sports Science degree at the University of Wollongong, where he majored in exercise physiology, nutrition, sports rehabilitation, functional and biomechanical training, posture and movement correction/injury prevention.
This has spurred his commitment to continually put health and fitness first – as demonstrated in his 36-year career in the global and domestic (Australian) fitness industry.
Starting his career managing fitness centers, Xen has consulted to global fitness equipment corporations, whilst also developing sales, marketing, communication and retention strategies that have helped plan and launch over three hundred health clubs throughout the Asia Pacific region.
Xen uses his skills as an accomplished speaker and educator to drive expansion in the industry through sound knowledge base and incredibly enthusiastic and entertaining presentations.
Since 2012, Hot Yoga has played a significant part in Xen’s life for almost 6 years … the hot yoga practice has helped him grow stronger, more flexible and fearless, both on and off the mat. Whilst playing basketball in 2015, he suffered a partially ruptured Achilles tendon which immobilised him for a few months.
Hot Yoga practice combined with physiotherapy, helped him heal his injury in half the time. The benefits and healing he received from Hot Yoga practice inspired him to complete the 200-hour Teacher Training with Fire Shaper Australia, additionally, he has completed a 100 hours Flow Teacher Training. As a teacher, his intention is to help you thrive in life by nurturing body, mind, and soul through yoga; so that you will step off the mat feeling refreshed, nourished and balanced.
He is currently studying to become a qualified Yoga therapist. Yoga therapy is the wave of the future as it is a complementary healing modality to help facilitate the holistic healing of an individual. Xen’s belief in the benefits of yoga and his passion for it is undeniably infectious … #hotyogawarrior #yogaxen #yogaheals
